Gerhard Gerdes is Managing Director of Deutsche WindGuard GmbH since 2001. He is working in the field of wind energy since 1983. Since 2010 he is accredited as Certifier for Grid Connection of renewable energy production units (wind and solar) according to German law and technical standards. Besides he is a member of the Workgroup of the Association for Wind Energy for national standardisation on grid integration of renewable production units in Germany. Between 1995 and 2001 he has been a member of the workgroup for standardisation at the field of grid quality from wind turbines in international, European and national standardisation groups, IEC/TC88 (WG12), CEN/CENELEC, MEASNET and in the national Commission for Governmental Guidelines. 2012 he published an analysis of default risks of the German offshore grids planned in the North Sea. Currently he consults the Federal Ministry of the Environment (BMU) in the field of international activities with regard to climate protection and support of renewable energy development (advise and scientific support for the Technology Cooperation in wind energy in the frame of the Clean Energy Ministerial - CEM). Furthermore, he conducts a study analysing issues related to wind and water turbines and the question of frequency control in the German power grid for the Federal Ministry of Economics.
